Murdoch, clerk of the South Melbourne Presbytery, has been committed to prison for contempt in refusing to produce a copy of a letter sent by the Presbytery to tho defendant in an action brought' by tho Rev. Mr Ronald against Robert Hai-per, a member of the House ofr Representatives. Mr Murdoch insisted that he had sworn to keep all documents of the Presbyter^, and he could not give them up even to the Court without the Pfesb.ytery's authority. (Received March 16, 9.45 a.m.) Melbourne, March 16. A meeting of the Presbytery commended Mr Murdoch's action— and authorised him to produce the letter.
