There is still a scarcity ot turkeys and good fat table cockerels, although prices for these are good. Unfortunately vendors send 111 leggy ha'lb-bred birds and wonder why they do not obtain table prices, 4s 6d to 6s These prices can only be obtained for good-sized birds ready tor immediate use. We had another big entry of- fruit. Prices for plums and tomatoes increased. Most Japanese varieties have come to an end. The produce market is still practically lifeless. We quote:— Stores 16s 3d, 18s 9d, 20s, 21s, 225, light porkers 22s 6d 235, 245, 255, heavy sorts up to 28s, weaners 5s 3d, 5s 9d, 6s, 7s, 7s 6d, Bs, 8s 6d, suckers 3s. Harnes pony £4, harness and saddle pony £6; ducks 4s, 4s 2d, 4s 9d, 5s 6d; half -grown cockerels and chickens Is 6d, 2s, 2s 6d, 2s Bd, 3s, prune 4s 6d to 7s 6d, geese 2s 9d to 3s bd, turkeys worth. 5s to 7s 6d for hens, 7s 6d to 12s, for gobblers. WAIKATO STOCK SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report: — We held a sheep fair at Ngaruawahia on the 16th inst., when we penned about 12,000 sheep, comprising 4500 lambs, 1500 wethers, and 60U0 ewes, two-tooth up to fullmouth. There was a large -attendance of buyers from Upper and Lower Waikato and good competition throughout, every dine on the catalogue being cleared at auction, i-he sheep were all in good condition, and the lambs, if not fat, were big-fram-ed and healty. As compared with recent Ohaupo fairs 3 prices for breeding ewes, especially young ones, were firmer, but lambs showed a fall ol 3 s to Is 6d. Two-tooth, ewes made from 14» 6d to 16s 3 mixed four and sixtooth and fuM-mouthed ewes, 13s 6d to 15s; fresh-full-mouthed owes, 0s 6d to 12s 6d; failing mouths, 6s 5d to os 6d; culls, 4s to ss; four-tooth wethers, 12s 7d to 145.; two-tooth do., 10s to 11s 6d. Lambs' Fat and forward, 9s lid! to 11s 3d; store do., 6s to 8s 3d. Rams: Romney Marsh, two-tooths, 2i guineas to 3 guineas; JSnslish Leicester, £2 to £2 2s; LincoLns, 3 iguiueas; 50 sold. At the monthly stock sale at Cambridge, buyers were present from Paeroa, Hikutaia, 'Auckland, and surrounding districts, and bidding was good throughout. Over 120 head of beef were penned and alll sold at the hammer or afterwards but two small pens of steers and! a few odd cows. Four hundred and fifty store cattle were offered, a good demand existing for 18-month steers a,nd heifers and good strong calves. We penned 550 sheep and lambs, mostly fat, and all were quitted but one line of ewes. Fat steers sold at from £7 7s 6d <o £7 15s; lighter weights, £6 15s to £7 5s j cows, £4 14s to £5 ss; (lighter weights, £3 15s to £4 ss; two amd a-ihalf to three-year steers, £5 6s; 18-month to two-year steers, £2 7s 6d to £2 15s; do., iheifers, £2 2s 6d to £2 7s; yearlings to 18-month steers, £1 17s to £2 3s; do., mixed, £1 13s to £1 15 a. Calves were in good demand. Steers, from 14s 6d to 19s 6d; mixed, 11s 6d to 13s; smaller sorts, 15s to 18s 6d; fat wethers, 14s 6d; fat ewes, to lie. Lambs sold well, best from 9s 7d 1o 10s 3d, others 7s lid to 9s 4d. One hundred and thirty pigs sold at satis4fa{jtory prices— weaners 8s to 13s, slips 18s to 13s.
