ADDING TON STOCK SALES.
Christchurch, February 10. At the Addingtou yards there was a fairly large entry of stock and a good attendance, especially of those interested in store sheeg. There was a heavy yarding of store sheep, and a large attendance of buyers. The quality of the sheep was not quite so good as at late sales, but there was a good demand, though not so keen as of late. Lambs formed a large proportion of the entry, and they changed hands at prices that showed little margin below the value of fats. Good forward lambs made 12s 6d to 13s 6d, ordinary rape lambs 10s 6d to 12s, and culls 8s 9d to 10s. There was a good entry of owes, and they sold up to 18s 9d for 4, 6, and 8-tooths, and wethers sold at prices equal to those of last week. There was a yarding of 4367 fat lambs, of which a large proportion was of second quality. . There was good competition right through, and while the export buyers were supposed to be operating on last week's basis of values prices were rather firmer, especially in the earlier part of the sale. There were 2575 taken for freezing at 13s 6d to 16s Id, and une extra pen at 17s 3d; 445 by butchers at 13s to 16s, a few extra to 17s; 1043 by graziers at 13s to 14s 7d, and 304 were passed in. The yarding of fat sheep was larger than last week, and proved to be beyond the requirement of butchers. The range of prices was n Prime wethers, 16s 6d to 18s 7d; others, 14s to 16s; medium, 12s to 13s 6d; aged and light, 9s 7d to 11s 6d. Beef.— Steers made £7 10s to £9 10s ; heifers £5 15s to £6 10s ; extraj to £8 ; cows, £4 17s 6d to £7 12s 6d, equal to 20s 6d to 22s 6d for prime, 18s 6d to 20s, for medium, and 16s 6d to 18s for cow and inferior per 100 lbs. Store Cattle. — 16 to 18-months sorts realised £2, 2-year steers, £3 ss; 2-year heifers, £2 12s; 3-year steers, £6 6s; 3-year heifers, £3 14s to £3 lls 6dj dry cows, 20s to £3 10s. Only a small number of dairy cows were yarded, and for the better sorts there was a keen demand, prices ranging from £3 10s to £9, according to quality. Pigs. — CHbppers realised to £4 15s, large baconers 55s to 635, and emal.ler 48s to 545, equal to 5d per lb. Large porkers made 42s to 475, and smaller 34s to 40s, equal to 6d per lb. Large stores made 35s to 38s 6d, smaller 28s to 84e; and wwaners 14b to 19s.
