General Gomez has issued a proclamation promising a decorous and pacific solution of all international disputes. i The decree of which Holland complained has been revoked, thus averting war between the two nations. President Gomez discovered thai Signer Cardenas, ex-President Castro's personall secretary, was entrusted with the task of inciting the assassination of Geueiwl Gomez, and a conspiracy, with the help of a mutinous commanded by President Castro's brother. General Gomez himself boldly arrested Colonel Castro, who accused Cardenas. The latter defiantly denied the plot. General Gomez had to pinion him thus breaking tho back of the plot, to prevent tho uso of a. revolver. CoUbnel Castro was then imprisoned, Dr Paul., ox-Foreign Minister, lias started for Europe to settle the Venezuelan international dispute.
