CONVENT SCHOOL.
DISTRIBUTION OP PRIZES. Yesterday afternoon the breakingup and distribution of prizes of the Convent School took place. There were present, besides the children attending the school, a number of parents and friends. Before the distribution was commenced, tne Mked t6 make the distribution. Father O'Meara congratulated the Sisters and th# children on the result* of the y«w'B work. The new school, which had W presented by Mn i Johnson, was soon to be completely furnished, SS KM much pleasure in stating . that Mrs Johnson, who was now on her way back from England had informed him that the school was to be used as soon as it was ready, it the sisters and the children had attaitoea. such good results with the inconveniences that they had had to put up with during the year, they could be expected to do even better next year, when they had a buildinp which was no doubt the finest primaTy school building in Australasia. , . . , The prizes were then distributed as follows: — „ .... Wilson thanked Father O'Meara for distributing the prizes, and expressed the thanks of the eisters towards him for the great interest he had taken in the school during the past year. Mr. Wilson said it had been the intention to enter the school gardens for the A. and P. Association's competition, but owing to the wet weather, they had been unable to get the gardens forward enough. He hoped the children would not be disappointed, and promised them that if they, worked hard in the gardens during the coming year, they would be entered for the competition next year. He again thanked Father O'Meara for the interest he had taken in the school. (Applause.) A Christmas Tree, loaded with presents, then became the centre of attraction, each infant child a**en°ing the school being given a Christmas box. The breaking-up function was therefore an agreeable one to old and young.
