CRICKET,

A representative match between the Wanganui and Manawatu Associations has been arranged for thia soason. It has been set down to commence on Anniversary Day, January 22, and to be continued the following day. The match will be played at Palmerston. The different Associations on this coast have had forwarded to them the suggestion of the Wanganui^ Association re the proposal of instituting a challenge shield for competition among representative teams on the West Coast, from North Taranaki to Manawatu. So far only the latter Association has forwarded a reply, which is entirely in sympathy with the proposal. The suggestion is a good one. and if the Taranaki Association will but endorse the idea, such a triangular contest should become a most popular fixture in cricket on this coast. o • — — ~ ""
