An ethergraphic system is being installed at the Admiralty buildings, London, which will enable the First Lord of the Admiralty to communicate with the naval ports and with warships at sea. CANADA CRITICISED. London, March 21. The Daily Telegraph strongly protested against Canada's restrictive regulation in excluding; emigrants whose passages are paid wholly or partly by charitable organisations. Owing to the misunderstanding of. an order, the French submarine Ventnors, whilst manoeuvring at Cherbourg, suddenly plunged and struck some rocks at a depth of ten fathoms. The hull was extensively damaged and the propellors rendered useless, but the coolness displayed by the captain and crew enabled them to make a miraculous escape. ARREST OF TWO LAWYERS. The Turin Academy of Science has awarded the Bressa prize to Ernest Rutherford, M.A., B.Sc., F.R.S., Professor of Physics, Manchester University, a New Zealander .who is one of the most distinguished scientists of the, day, and an authority especially on radio-activity. TO PUNISH THE TRAITOR. , London, March' 21. Baron Loreburn, Lord High Chalcellor, has introduced a Bill providing a year's imprisonment for the disclosure of State secrets. THE EIGHT HOUR BILL. Sir George Livesay, Chairman of the London Gas Company, in a lea-, net to the Peckham electors, states that the Minors' Eight Hour Bill would cause a loss of £271,500 a year to the South Metropolitan Gas Company alone.
