Moderate Liberal members of the House of Commons passed a resolution of confidence in the Government in its endeavour to preserve the defences of the Empire and State with complete efficiency. They deprecated any pressure on the Government to modify the naval estimates, which the Government's deliberate judgment approves. ANGLOtRUSSIAN AGREEMENT. (Receive? February 12, 8.38 a.m.) London, February 11. Earl Crewo, in the House of Lords, stated that a document from the Russian Ambassador admitting that Russia had not denied Britain's position in the Persian Gulf. [An agreement between England and Russia, which settled many outstanding difficulties, was signed in St. Petersburg on September 1, 1907. The Persian agreement states with the declaration that the two powers have mutually engaged to respect the integrity and independence of Persia.]
