FEILDIING SHOW ASSOCIATION.

— ♦ » - The ordinary monthly meeting of the Feilding A. and P. Asosciation was held in the Library room on Saturday afternoon. Mr H. Booth (President) occupied the chair, nd there were 19 members present. CORRESPONDENCE. The following letters were receiv ed: — Th© Wanganui Education Hoard wrote, stating Mr Browne, the Dairy Inspector, would shortly be in Feilding, and would give the Association any information desired. From the Masterton A. and P. Association, stating their next Show would be held on 18th and 19th February, 1908. From the Egmont A. and P. Association, stating that the Department of Agriculture, through the Secretary and Dairy Commissioner, had recently intimated that the officers of the Dairy Division would not in future be available for judging dairy produce at the summer shows. It was considered at Hawera thr.t this decision would greatly affect all shows which were keenly interested in dairy produce. Already there was a notice that- many of the companies would not exhibit unless the Association had the services of an expert judge, and it seemed to be evident that to give general s.atisfacton to exhibitors, a judge from tho staff of the Agricultural Department would have to be selected. The Feilding Association were asked to assist in the matter. — Decided to support the Egmont Society, and forward letter to the Department. From the Manawatu A. and P. Association, stating that the following remit had been received from the Secretary of the Agricultural Conference: — "The present executive committee, Messrs J. G. Wilson, J. G. Rutherford, R. Dick, and Edwin Hall, be re-elected, and that ono member each from Canterbury, Otago, Southland, Wairarapa, Gisborne and Hawke's Bay, Marlberough and Nelson, Taranaki and Manawatu (to be appointed by the principal A. and P. Associations in their districts), be joined with them to form a permanent Committee to carry out the resolutions of the Conference and transact such other business as may be brought before it by arfy of tho; Associations; that such Committeo j go fully into the question of the de- ] sirability of federating the whole of the Agricultural and Pastoral Asso-| ciations of the colony, and ultimately j become a strong representative body j that might be called the Royal Agri- j cultural and Pastoral Society of Ne\y j Zealand." The Manawatu Associa-i tion decided to nominate their Pre- j sident-elect as a member of the Exe- 1 cufcive referred to, subject to the acquiescence of the Feilding Associaton. — The Feilding Society decided to nominate their President, Mr H. Booth, for the position. From Mrs M. A. Kirton, in reference to the arrangement for classes for pedigree Jerseys, stating it would possibly bo better if, instead of having a class for cow in milk or with calf at foot, to have a cow any age (not necessary in milk). SCHEDULES. The draft schedules were then discussed. The total prize money calculated to be offered amounted to £714, including trophies. Competitions. — The amount of prize money to be offered is £84 15s. It was decided not to offer a gold medal for best gentleman rider. Horses. — Amount to bo offei'ed, £167 ss. It was agreed that pair farm horses be shown in harness. A motion was carried that a parade be held at the forthcoming show, horses and vehicles to take part. Cattle. — Amount to be offered , £124 6s. It was agreed that in all pedigree cattle classes, the number to be exhibited be one, instead of three. In the dairy classes, it was decided to leave the number at three. Sheep. — Amount to be offered, £233 3s. Pigs. — Amount to be offered £46. Dairy Produce. — Amount to be offered, £12. Vegetables and Fruit. — Amount to be offered, £8 12s 6d. Home Industries. — Amount to b« offered, £13 2s 6d. School Section. — Amount to be offered, £15. Guessing Competition. — Amount to j be offered, £8 10s. . Ram Fair. — A proposal was carried to the effect that a Committee j comprising the President and Messrs j Burrell. Campbell, McElroy, and 80-j wnter, be set up to arrange with the auctioneers for a ram fair. Mr Mayo donated two guineas. Mr F. Richardson (Waituna) was elected a member, and donated one guinea. Mr E. P. Binne was also elected a member. Messrs Phillips and Perrett donated two guineas each.
