Further details from Belfast show that for hours soldiers and constables were subjected to a bombardment of I paving stones and other missiles from ! 2000 to 3000 frenzied people. Women carried their aprons full of stones and other missiles and from upper windows joined in the fray. Troops, pursuing the rioters, used the butt ends of rifles. From houses m*n hurled stones.
