m I iOur Own Correspondent.) I The ex-pupils held their annual concert and dance on Friday evening last, and as there were over, two hundred persons present the affair was a decided success. Mr Matthews occupied the chair, and the following items were rendered. Overture, Misses Osborne and Nix. Songs, Miss Robinson, Dr. Gregory, Miss O'Reilly, Mr Rule (encore). Miss L. Guy (encore), Master Cecil Stanley, Miss T. Melton, Mr P. Guy (in character, encore), Mr Stephens with bones (in character), Mr Decke, Miss Levin flute solo; violin duet Missee Rolf; flute solo, Mr Fraser; recitations, Misses R. Stewart. Fraser, and Walls; reading, Mr McKenzie. The accompaniments were played by the Misses Nix, Watson, and Stephens, Mrs Matthews and Mr McKenzie. At the conclusion of the concert supper was handed round. . About 60 couples stayed to the dance, and altogether a pleasant evening was spent. What might have been a serious accident occurred to Mrs Duncan, who was driving up from Feilding with her son and Miss Duncan. It appears that when they arrived opposite Mr J. Buckman's, the horse stumbled through a hole, in the road, and Mrs Duncan was thrown out right under the horse, which plunged about considerably before Mrs Duncan got clear, and she got considerably bruised and shaken, although not seriously. __ v
