SAD CASE AT OHAU.
On Tuesday morning a very sad occurrence took place on the farm of Mr A. Palmer, of the Kuku road, Ohau, the victim being Mr Palmer himself, a man of 69 years of age, and a bachelor. He had made up his mind to give up farming and live a quiet life, and a sale of his stock is advertised to take place on Tuesday next. He appeared in his usual good spirits early yesterday .morning, and after milking the cows and feeding the pigs said he would go and shoot two roosters that had been around his dwelling. He was next found, about 9 a.m., in the passage leading out of his home, weltering in blood. A double-barrelled gun was at his side, and his face was blown away. He was still alive, and all haste was I made to telephone to Levin for a doctor, but during the delay which followed the old man passed away. How the accident occurred no one i knows. Mr Palmer was well known land popular, hale and hearty, and i his death was a shock to the com--1 munity.— Farmer.
