Education Board Election.

The election for the vacancies oil the Wangaaui Education Board takes place next month, and it does nob look as if there is likely to be any contest, as the retiriug members — Messrs D. H. Outline, of Ituahine, and Mr Alf. Fraser, of Foxton — are both seeking re-election. Mr Fraser has done good servico on the Board, and has proved unremitting in the attention he has paid to his duties and the time he has devoted to the wants of the southern end of the district, while his business training has proved of considerable benefit to the Board in his position as principal member of the Finance Committee. Besides that his unfailing good 'humour and experience or local bodies' work makes him an unexceptionably good colleague. Mr Guthrie has particularly good qualifications for the position, as he. has spent many years as a teacher both in town and country schools, and retired with a scholastic record any man might be proud of. His intimate knowledge of that branch of the Board's work is of great service to the members, while his term of office on the Kiwitaa County Council has given him a grasp' of routine work of infinite value. As a farmer in the backblocks, Mr Guthrie naturally takes an interest in the latest developments in scientific agriculture and dairying, and is able to give advice and pronounce opinions to which considerable weight is attached. Mr G. Carson, the retiring member for the northern district, is" iu> fortunate in the fact that. he lives outside the boundaries of his district, and for that reason alone he will probably have opposition. As the oldest member of the Board, an exChairman, Chairman of the Girls' College, and a resident close to the Board's offices, his services are invaluable, and it will be a pity if he does not secure re-election.
