[PiSB PRBBB ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, June Id. The Commissioner of Police has received *a cablegram reporting the extradition at Monte Video of U. C. Mclntyre, late Superintendent o| Awards at the Exhibition, and that the prisoner left on Saturday tor England in custody of Detective Mcllveney. Auckland, June Id. A charge if manslaughter against Eliza Davies, in connection with the death of an infant taken for adoption, was heard in the Supreme Court to-day. The jury, upon the suggestion of Judge Denniston, acquitted accused before the cj»s© for the defence was concluded, the Judge stating it was impossible to find that death was due to starvation, as alleged, in view of the medical testimony. A post-mortem was necessary to show this. The Judge declared the system of adopting infants in response t.) advertisement offering a small premium should be mode absolutely illfgal, because under such circumstances it wis to the interests of a person taking a child that the sooner it died the better.
