PROHIBITION CASES.

llichard Bowler was charged with entering licensed premises during the currency .of a prohibition order against him. Mr Carty appeared for Bowler, and submitted that Justices had no power to grant orders. The Magistrate ruled against this, and inflicted a fine of 10s, with ooste 7s. Jas Kirton was charged with that he did accompany a prohibited per,son, to wit, Richard Bowler, on licensed premises, well knowing him to be prohibited. Plea, not guilty. Sergt. Bowden stated Kirton was. one of the Justices who had granted an order against Bowler on the day of the offence. Thomas McGilray deposed: I am barman at the Manchester Hotel, and on Saturday Kirton and Bowler came to the bar, and had whisky and beer. Defendant stated his eyesight was not good, and he may not have recognised Bowler; he did not recollect having the drinks. Fined 20s and costs 7s. Arthur Edwards, prohibited person, was charged with having liquor in his possession. Plea, guilty. Fined 10s, and 7s costs. CIVIL LIST. Judgment was given for plaintiffs in each of the following cases: — E. Gladstone v. S. Burton, £1 4s, costs 6s; W. J. Williams v. C. Herdman, £4 10s, costs 10s i H. E. Diffey v. H. Feild, £5, costs 15s 6d; W. 'loose v. J. W. Thomas. 16s, costs 10s ; C. E. Tustin v. F. W. Maney, £19 3s, costs £1 10s 6d; W. Watts v. A. Guthrie, £6 12s, costs £1 3s 6d; Bartholomew Bros. V. T. Giles, £3 7s sd, costs 10s; Bartholomew Bro3. v. W. Terry, £11 2s sd, costs £1 19s 6d. Judgment summons— W. Waddell and Co. v. Hugh Christie, ordered to pay £6 6s 9d forthwith, in default seven days' imprisonment in Wanganui Gaol, costs 12s. J. P. Kelly v. F. W. Maney, order made for £6 6d; in default seven days' imprisonment in Wanganui Gaol; Barraud and Abraham v. F. Hansen, order for £2 9s 4d ; in default, three days' imprisonment, Wanganui Gaol; D. Haswell v. C. H. Ducker, order made for £7, to be paid in instalments of £1 per month; Hoult and Son v. F. Adam, order made for £4 19s 3d. > A DEAD HORSE. Emma Adam proceeded against Owen McElroy for £60 damages, caused by the death of a draught horse. Mr Graham, for plaintiff ; Mr Sandilands for defendant.

Mr Graham explained that McElroy had hired the mare from plaintiff, and in taking a load of wood to a flaxmill at Terakehou, the dray fell over a bank, rolled down into a stream of water, and the mare was drowned. A plan of the locality was produced. Geo. C. Hill deposed : lama C.E. and Surveyor practising in Feilding; I made the plan (produced), and the levels are tall correct, and were taken by myself. By Mr Sandilands : I will not swear that the fall from the top of the bank to the stream is more than 1 in 12.

The Court then adjourned for the Licensing Court.
