STOCK MARKET

Abraham and Williams report that at their Johnsonville sale yesterday there was a fair entry of bullocks of prime quality, which sold at last week's rates. Beef made 21s 6d per 1001 b, best bullocks £9 2s 6d, others £8 5s to £8 17s 6d, lighter £7 15s to £8 2s 6d. There was a heavy yarding of sheep,, including some heavy prime ewe sand wethers. The market was fair throughout. Extra heavy 225, others 19s to 19s 9d, lighter 17s 9d, extra heavy ewes 21s, others 19s, light ewes 13s 7d to 15s 7d •

Dalgety and Co. report: — At our Marton sale we had a large entry of sheep and a fair yarding of cattle. Two and 4-tooth ewes in lamb 21s 6d, fat and forward ewes 11s 9d, fresh full-mouth ewes in lamb 13s 3d, aged owes in lamb 6s 6d to 10s 6d. ewe lambs 14s 3d ,lambs 7s 8d to lls 4d. Cows to £3, fat cows to £3 ss, empty cows to 355; 18-montJi steers 435, 3year steers 81s 6d, mother-fed weaners 30s. A good clearance -was effected all round.

Messrs Dalgefly and 00., Ltd., report haying held a most successful clearing sale on Saturday, June Ist, on account of Mr W. A. Hodgkinson, at his homestead, near Hunterville. The high quality of the stock offering combined with an exceptionally fine day drew a large attendance of buyers, and all classes of stock sold under spirited bidding. The following are prices obtained : —Sheep : Two-tooth Romney-Lincoln ewes in lamb, 26s 7d; 4, 6, and f.f.m. do., 24s 3d;. ewe lambs, 15s 3d; fat and forwad ewes, 14s 7d; s.m. ewes in lamb, 13s 8d; wether lambs, I2s 9d; aged ewes in lamb, 8s Id; cull lambs, 8s Id. Cattle: Two and half to 3 year steers, £3. 6s to £5 7s 6d; cows in calf, £5 7s 6d to £8 2s 6d; heifers in calf, £3 15s; 18-months steers', 555; cows, 355; 18-months heifers, 335; mother-fed wdaners, 275; Horses: 1 light draught gelding £25 ss, 1 harness mare £24 10s, 2yr-old light draughts £16 10s to £19 15s, mare with foal £17, 18mos light draughts £10 ss. to fill, hacks £7 to £9 15s, dogcart «£24, tip spring dray £10, set Wness £5 10s. A very large collection of implements, tools,, and also a lot of household furniture met with good competition, and concluded one of the most successful sales held in the district.
