APITI NOTES.

(Our Own Correspondent.) A public meeting was held in the Oddfellows' Hall for the purpose of electing trustees for the new hall, and the following gentlemen were appointed under the Public Libraries Act: — Messrs Elliott, Cowan, Malcolm, Prouse, Lawson, Falconer, McKay, McCoiinell, Osborne, Mowatt, Biickman, Dr. Gregory, Duncan, Kearney and Bennett. President, Dr Gregory ; V ice-President, H. Osborne ; Secretary, VV. McKay ; Treasurer, H. Bennett. The ground is to be cleared by working bee in the beginning- of next week. Frequently the telephone, wire is unspeakable between here and Kinibolton. Probably the cause is mat - rocarpa trees, many of which overhang and touch the wires when heavy with rain, and they badly need cutting.
