Welshmen, including members of the House of Commons and leading commercial men, lawyers, and pressmen, banquetted Mr Hughes at the National Liberal Club, Mr Lloyd George presiding. He said Mr Hughes was a man of whom his countrymen were very proud. Mr Hughes, responding, advocated cheaper cable rates ana transport service, which would do more than anything to promote good feeling. WILFUL MURDER AGAINST CRUMPE. The Coroner's jury returned a verdict of wilful murder against Crumpe. When arrested the murderer handed the police a hurried scrawled note, wherein he menaced his victim in abusive terms.
