APITI NOTES.
♦■ A heavy thunderstorm, acconipani ed with lightning and rain, passed over the district on Saturday afternoon. In the evening snow comtnenoed to fall, and on Sunday morning fully seven inches covered tht* ground. Old residents declared that it was the heaviest fall of snow they had ever experienced for this time of the year. Mr A. Brown, of Apiti, lately sold his farm at a good figure to Mr Guy. Mr Newton also disposed of his farm to Mr Knox. of Kimbolton. On Friday, the 24th inst., the Apiti Rifle Club fired off for the prizes presented by Messrs E. Bell, H. Osborne, P. O'Reilly. J. Falconer and H. E. Follett. A strong wind from the right made shooting difficult. The conditions were 10 shots at 500 and 600 yds. The following are the results : —
A match was also fired off between Messrs A. Brown and J. Wilson, the prize being a fat bullock. Mr Brown carried off the prize with a narrow margin of one point.
