WOOL, SKINS, AND HIDES SALE.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.. Palmerston North, report as follows: —On Friday we held our monthly sale of wool, hides and skins, when we presented a good average catalogue to a full attendance of buyers. Wool — Bulk of offering consisted of bag lots, which does not as a rule elicit as keen competition as the larger parcels packed in bales. Competition, however, for all descriptions was particularly active, but at prices reflecting the recent weakness in the London market. We quote: —Medium fleece B|d, dead wool 7f d to Bd, lambs (bag lots) 7jd to Bd. arutchings (bag lots) 5Jd. Skins—We had good entries, the catalogue consisting chiefly of full-woolled butchers' skins. All lots were keenly competed for at current London parity. We give a comparison of the prices obtained with those of April sale:—Full-wool-led skins B}dt April sale B}d to B|d; full-woolled skins, pt. dry, 5s lid to 6s 5d each, April sale 5s Id to 5s 6d; full-woolled lambs 3s 6d to 3s lOd, April sale 2s lOd to 3s 3d; quarter and half-woolled skins 7id to Bd, April sale 7*d to Bd. Hides—We offered a representative catalogue, which met with active competition from all buyers, but at prices reflecting in a slight measure the decline reported from Australia. Quotations:—Heavy ox s£d, April sale 6|d; medium ox s*d, April sale 6d; heavy cow s|d, April sale 6d; medium cow sfd to s§d, April sale 6|d to 6d; calfskins 6Jd, April sale 6|d.
