KIWITEA COUNTY COUNCIL.
• The monthly meeting of the Kiwitea County Council was held at Kimbolton to-day. Present — Crs Carman (Chairman), Hockley, Mclntyre, McNeil, and Fowler. CORRESPONDENCE. The following letters were received : — From C. M. Powell, Wai tuna, askking for a few loads of metal from the Council's pits at the usual royalty. From C. Dowdall and Co., Palmerston, asking the Council to provide a road in to the top end of the cemetery at Kimholton, so that heavy loads might be taken in to that end of the cemetery. From the Town Board, Hunterville, stating that they were prepared to pay half the cost of erecting a telephone from the Sandon Block to Hunterville. From the Postal Department, stating that they were willing to erect a telephone wire from the Sandon Block, if the Council would guarantee the loss— £27 a year. From H.D. Densham, agreeing to lease section 62, Block XL, Ongo, Survey District, at a rental of £1 per annum. From Pohangina County Council, sttating that they were willing to pay their share of one-quarter of the cost of the formation of a road on Coulter's Line, amounting to £300, and they were willing to send a progress payment of £200 at once. From A. and J. Green, asking the Council to renew the lease of section 39, Block TV., Ongo Survey District, at an annual rental of 10s. From Health Department, Wellington, asking if the Council were will, ing to pay £42-towafd» tb»'fi*atoh inspector's salary, which they had promised to do some time ago. From F. H. Vennell, enclosing a bill for £42, cost of land taken for deviation of road on Pahikikura Hill and interest at 5 per cent. From Clutha County Council, asking support of the Kiwitea Council in the matter of an alteration of the system of valuing, and stating tha Councils could make heir own valuations at a less cost than the Government under the present system. From A. G. Carty, County Solicitor,, stating that the rateable value of small grazing runs was fixed by capitalising the rental value at 6 per cent. From London Bros., agreeing to pay 10s per annum for lease of reserve No. 112. From Audit Inspector, Wanganui, stating that another inspector had been appointed for the district, and he greatly regretted not having to examine the Council V books, as it was one of his pleasantest duties. From R. Taylor, Cunningham's, stating that he had kept the road in front of his place in repair for the last ten years, and asking for a reduction in rates or a. better road. From W. Phyn, asking for a reduction of rates as the road and bridges in his part of the county were not as good as in other places. From H. Fowler, Kimbolton, applying for renewal of lease of Nos. 117 and 121, Block XIV., Apiti Surevy District, for seven years at a rental of 16s. From F. Kensington, applying for a lease of reserve No. 62, Block XII., Ongo Survey District, at a rental of 10s per annum for 5 years. From Rangiwahia School Committee, asking for an additional grant for the formation of a footpath at the school-teachers residence, as the
amount already given, £5, was - not sufficient. From J. Red, applying for permission to erect 10 chains of fencing by the side of -Peep o' Day road at his section 68.
