LONDON WOOL SALES.

The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, May 17th:— The wool sales have closed, and the market remains firm. The consumption good on accocnt of the brisk trade experienced, and prospects are favorable. Estimated values are as follows:—Fine crossbreds, all grades, Is 2d to Is 4d per lb ; medium crossbreds, aU grades, Hid to Is lid per lb ; coarse crossbreds, all grades, iUa to 10id per lb ; superior merino. Is to Is 2d per lb; medium merino, lid to Is Id per lb; inferior merino, 8d to 10id per lb.
