During the Taranaki elections the Native Minister sneered at the Opposition in a manner entirely at variance with his usual gentlemanly way, and wound up by calling the Leader of the Opposition " the Bill Adams of I New Zealand" — implying, of course, that Mr Massey was a stranger to the' truth. In the course. of his reply Mr Massey said that he believed that Bill Adams was supposed to have won the. Battle of Waterloo — and he believed the Ministry would meet their Waterloo on the election day, a pro- 1 phecy which possessed the merit of fulfilment.
