FOOTBALL.
The usual weekly rooting of the Management Committee of the Manawatu Rugby Union was held last evening. Present: Messrs Gibbons (i- 1 the chiir), Fi'aser, Armstrong, F;eemaJi, McLean, Stagpoole, Manr ing, Torstonson. The referees in matches last Saturday reported the Palmerston, Feikling, Ruimai, and Ashhurst Clubs for playing without club colours, and t"i?h club was fined 2s 6d. The Bulls Club wrote asking for permission to play in this district. and the Foxton Sub-Union supported the action. It was decided to refuse any application from teams to play in or outside Manawatu boundaries. The secretary's action in refusing permission to the Halcombe or Onepuhi Clubs to play under Rangitikei Sub-Union was confirmed. The last year's Accident Insurance Committee was present at the mooting and explained the position of affairs regarding the claims from the Foxton Sub-Union players, and it was decided to recommend the present Accident Insurance Committee to pay Royal's claim, and the others when doctor's certificates are furnished. The past committee's explanations regarding other details were accepted as perfectly satisfactory. On the motion of Mr Manning, .seconded by Mr McLean, it was decided that owing to the unworkable arrangements in the past, this Union recommends to the Insurance Committee not to accept any sub-union tinder the insurance scheme and fnrther recommend the Foxton SubUnion to form and manage their own fund. The N.Z. Union wrote asking for names of probable players for the North v. South Island match, and it was decided to instruct the Selection Committee to send names of players to Wellington. On the motion of Mr Manning, seconded by Mr Freeman, it was decide.l that the Foxton Sub-Union be informed that Bulls being outside the Manawatu boundaries, no players from there can play in the Foxton contest, and further that any matters the Sub-Union desire to bring under the notice of the N.Z. Union UMist first come through this Union. Owing to the withdrawal of the Terrace End Club Mr Seeker resigned his position on the Management Committee. The resignation was accepted with regret. The matter of filling the vacancy was left till next meeting. It was decided to hold a seven-aside tournament on June 3rd and to award a framed photograph to each member of the winning team. Entrance for trains to be free, and en- • tries to be in the hands of the secretary on Monday, May 27th. Any outside club to be eligible for competition. Admission to grounds to be Is, to include grandstand. On the motion of Mr Manning, it was decided that this Union strongly disapproves of any suggestion of sending Home a team of footballers to play any Northern Union Clubs there.
The following are the matches and referees for next Saturday's games — Senior : Feilding v. Palmerston, at Feilding, referee Mr Evans; Kia Toa v. Huimai, at Show Ground, referee Rev. Harper. Junior: Feilding v. Old Boys, at Show Ground, referee Mr W. Tnnbridge; Ashhurst v. Palmerston, at Ashhurst, referee Mr Eliott ; Huimai v. Kia Toa, at Awahuri, referee Mr C. J. McLean. Third Class: Feilding v. Old Boys, at Feilding, referee Mr H. C. Stewart.
