Bute a sum of £1000, to be given to I the Canterbury Agricultural & Pasi toral Association and the Manawatu Agricultural and Pastoral Association each alternate year, the sum to be added to the prize fund of the above associations, for the purpose of holding a Royal Show. 2. That it is desirable that Government establish an experimental farm in Canterbury. The recommendations were adopted. Auckland, April 10. Advice has been received by Inspector Cullen that Robert Gibb, late hotel-keeper at Neavesville (Thames) was arrested at Honolulu on the arrival ol the Sierra from Auckland, on a charge of obtaining £12 from Alexander Johnston, licensee of the Empire Hotel, Auckland, by means of false pretences. He was brought before the Honolulu Court and remanded, pending the production of an extradition warrant. A detective will bo sent from Auckland next boat in charge of the necessary documents. Masterton, April 11. Obituary. — Ex-Sergt. Henry McCardlo., of the Police Force, who arrived in New Zealand over forty years ago, and was station in turn at Charleston, -Brighton, Reefton, Cobden, Lyall, Hokitika, Masterton, 'New Plymouth, Waipawa, and Nelson. He resigned from the force at the last-named place, and was appointed Clerk of the Court at Havelock and Cullensville. ' He retired about two years ago, and came to Masterton, where he resided up to tho time of his decease, aged 74. Christchurch, April 10. In connection with the suspen- | sion of Mr D. C. Mclntyre as superintendent of awards at the Exhibi- [ tion a printed list, entitled "General I Judging Regulations," has been dis- !' covered by the authorities, which contains some, extraordinary provisions. The general manager of the Exhibition Mr G. S. Munro) states that till to-day he had no knowledge of the existence of these printed regulations, and he was unable to say whether or not they had received Ministerial sanction. They bear only the printe dsignature "D. C. Mclntyre, Superintendent of Judges and Awards." Seventeen regulations are comprised in this document.
