Business and Politics.
A special train was used between Wellington and New Plymouth on Sunday to convey a Supreme Court Judge to the opening of the sittings in the city of Kumikums, and it was so mighty convenient that a Minister of the Crown, whose mission is announced to be to deliver an address on the Land Bill, accompanied the Judge, with his entourage. We had thought that the days of special trains, especially on Sundays, were done with, and we cannot remember that a Supreme Court Judge has hitherto* been accorded the privilege. As the Minister's address is not to j be delivered until Thursday next, J there did not seem to be any great , haste for his appearance in New Plymouth — on public grounds, at any rate. But the truth appears to be that Dr. Findlay is engaged in cases to be decided at the sitting of the Court 'there, and it is to enable him to devote his attention to his own private business that the country has been put to the expense referred to. Some time ago, the late Premier was called to task by a Ministers' Association for breaking the Sabbath in tbe manner Judge Cooper and Dr. Findlay were guilty of. How is it the members are so strangely silent now?
