Captain Cleland Disqualified.

It will be seen by our telegrams that the United Fire Brigades' Association has unanimously decided that the captain of the Feilding Fire Brigade (Mr Cleland) is not eligible to become a member of tho Brigade until he has obtained a clearance fiom the New Plymouth Brig<i le During the inquiry held by the Association into the niaiter, every contention wo made against Captain Cleland's election to the Feilding captaincy was fully borne out, and from what wo can gather, he lias no more chance of obtaining a clearance fiom the New Plymouth Brigade than he has of becoming Premier. It would be interesting to know, in this connection, tho authority for the statement in tho Manawatu Times a couple of months ago to the effect that the United Fire Brigades Association had condoned Captain Cleland's irregularity in not obtaining a clearance.
