A.& P. ASSOCIATION.
• The first committee meeting of the Manawatu A. and P. Association is being held to-day at Pahnerston. Present.*—Mr W. S. Jacob (president), and 20 members of the committee. The President said the committee bad some big problems before them for this year, including finance, and he hoped the members would work hard both on the committee and at the Show. _j CORRESPONDENCE. The following letters were read: — From M. Edgar and G. E. Owen, accepting the position as veterinary surgeons to the Association. , From J. McKenzie, Dunedin, stating that his principles, Messrs Quibbel Bros., had decided to offer a sterling silver challenge cup, valued at £10 10s; for the best Romney sheep, with their pedigree; as follows:— Ram over 21 months, ram under 21 months, and ram lamb, ewe over 21 months, ewe under 21 months, and ewe lamb. The cup to be styled the Quibbel Cup and to be won twice in succession, or three times at intervals. — Referred to the Sheep Schedule Committee. From I. G. Duncan, accepting the position of Vice-president, and enclosing cheque for £10 10s being subscription for life member. From the Secretary of the Agricultural Association, New Zealand, with reference to the conference to be held in Wellington, and asking for names of delegates and list of subJects tiie committee wished to bring orward. From the Seddon Memorial Committee, asking for the subscription to the fund. From the New Zealand Jerssy Cattle Association, forwarding two gold medals, valued at £2 2a each, for competition at the Spring Show io* champion Jersey bull and champion Jersey cow, on the condition that only animals entered and accepted for entry in the New Zealand Jersey Herd book be received. — Referred to the Cattle Schedule Committee. * From W. Mitchell, Colyton, stating he would not pay his members' subscription any longer, on account of the action taken by the Committee in reference to members' tickets to the grandstand. In future he would pay when he wanted to go to a show. Mr W. Lnxford laid before the Committee the correspondence between himself and the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales, in regard to his expenses as judge to the Sydney Show. The New South Males AsEsociation had -efused to {lay Mr Luxford's expenses, and he aid the matter before the Association for their information. In reference to the matter of Mr W. Luxford's expenses at the Sydney Show, an animated discussion took place. Eventually, a motion was proposed that a copy of the correspondence between Mr Luxford and tbe Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales be sent to the Senior Agricultural Societies of New Zealand, pointing out the action of the Sydney Society. An amendment was proposed by Mr Freeman L. Jackson, having for its object the sending of a letter to the Sydney Society from the Manawatu A. and P. Association .pointing out that it was customary tor New Zealand Associations to pay the expenses of their judges. The matter was further discussed at some length, and eventually the motion was corried.
