TRANSVAAL ELECTIONS.
INTENSE EXCITEMENT [BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH— COPYRIGHT.] [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Pretoria, February 21. The elections in the Transvaal are j being fought with great spirit. The results, which are incomplete, indicate that the Progressives will form a strong and compact minority. Sir Percy Fitzpatrick has been elected, polling 491 againßt 364 polled by Sir Richard Solomon) and 170 by Burke, Independent candidate. Sir Percy Fitzpatrick received a great ovation at Pretoria. The excitement is indescribable. Racial feeling is running strong as the returns are received. Twenty thousand aro assembled in Market Square at Johannesburg. London, February 21. Reuter's Agency reports that 18 Progressives have been elected. These include Sir Wools Sampson, Sir George Farrar, Abe Bailey, Van Halsteyn. Sixteen Hetvolkites have been returned, including those returned unopposed. These include Smuts, Dr Krause, and Messrs Risaik, Rooth, Langerman, Advocate. De Villiers Six Nationalists include Sir Richard Solomons and his iii other Edward. Three Laborites have been elected. (Received February 22nd, 8.55 a.m.) Capetown, February 21. At the Transw.al elections, the Nationalists elected include W. Wyeburgh and H. C. Hull, former members for Sheffield. An Independent won the Jappertbwn seat, defeating Cresswell, Nationalist.
