Masterton, January 13. Messrs J. C. Cooper, D. Crewe, and W. B. Mathieson, representatives of the Farmers' Union, addressed a meeting on the Land Bill from a freehold point of view tonight. At the conclusion of the meeting the following resolution was carried unanimously, "That this meeting is of opinion that no Land Bill will be satisfactory to this colony that refuses the option of the right of purchase to Crown tenants who hold their land under close settlement conditions. Dunedin, February 13. At Burnside stock market 196 fat cattle were yarded. Best bullocks brought up to £10 10s, medium £8 to £9 10s, light £5 10s to £7, cows and heifers up to £6. Fat sheep— soo penned. Best wethers 16s to 19s, extra to 20s 2d, medium lls to 14s, best ewes 12s 6d to 16s, old ewes 2s to ss. Fat lambs— 2ooo. Best lambs 12s 6d to 14s, extra to 16s 9d, medium 9s 6d to lls 6d. Pigsl76. Suckers 6s to 9s 6d, slips 10s to 16s 6d, stores 18s to 235, porkers 26s to 335, baconers 43s to 58s. Dalgety and Co. report:— At our Masterton sale yesterday over 5000 sheep were yarded. There was a large attendance of buyers. Owing to the dry weather, bidding wfes slack for inferior stock, though there was good demand for all others, and almost all the lines of sheep were sold. There was no inquiry for cattle. Best shorn rape lambs 9s 7d to 9s Jftd, calls to 6s, best ewes to 14s sd. medium to 9s 6d, culls to Bs, twotooth wethers to 14s, fat ewes to 14s 3d, fat cowb £6.
