BAND CONTEST.
[nR FHHB ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, February 13. Following are the results of the Band competition to-day: — Euphonium: WT J. Stains (Granity) 96 points, 1; W. Bickman (Wanganui Garrison) 94 points and R. J. Estal) (Woolston) 94 points (equal), 2. G bass trombones: J. Cummine (Den* niston) 91 points, 1 ; J. Sutherland (First Infantry Auckland) 80 points. 2; A. J. Stewart (Dunedin Cituens) 70 points, 3. Side drums: A. Jacobs (Lyttelton Marine) 97 points. 1; C. Cooper (Wanganui Garrison) 95 points, 2. Tenor horns; C. Hansen (nelson Garrison) 93 points, 1: B. Green (Mornington Brass Band) 87 points, 2; G. Wilson (Woolston) 84 points. 3 : C. Forrest (Wanganui Garrison) 82 points and G. F. Kelly (Invercargill Garrison) 82 points (equal), 4. Flugel horns: T. Bauchop (Kaikorai) 90 points, 1; P» Cob (Jupp's Band) 83 points, 2. A meeting of delegates from the various bands throughout the colony was held this afternoon, when a motion was adopted affirming the desirability of forming a New Zealand Bands' Association. m . ... The annual meeting of the Association was held to-day. Mr M. Cohen was re-elected President for the eleventh time. The Wanganui riot-presidents are Messrs^ J. T. Hoaan, J. G. Swan, and N. Meuli. Other officials:— Secretary, B. Hoiben (Palmerston North): treasurer, A. Sharker (Palmerston North); Executive, Lieut. Herd, A. Baker, J. Coamings (Wellington), Sergt.-Ma-jor Anderson, J. T. Russell, and J. T Muir (Wanganui), Lawrence (Woodville), MoLeod (Masterton), J. Jones (Palmerston North). A motion to grade the bands A and B at future contests was carried, and the matter of forming an Association to take charge of all contests held in the colony was relegated to the Executive for consideration. .... The question of locking up the judOß was brought up by the President; who dwelt on the absurdity of the practice. There is every probability that at future contests this old-time practice will be abolished.
