At the District Court last evening, Judge Haselden presiding, Frederick Charles Startup appealed against the decision of Mr Wray, S.M., who fined him £50 for selling liquor in a no-license district. Mr Raymond appeared for appelant, and pointed out that the magistrate had p mended the information from one of keeping liquor for sale, to selling liquor, to one named Edwards, and as Edwards was not in the district at the time, the liquor was received aud had not helped to consume it. Therefore on that fact there could b< no sale. The appeal was allowed, and the conviction quashed. Auckland, December 5. At the Supreme Court, Henry Alfred Bowers, who admitted celling to fruit growers a worthless preparation as a blight specific, was sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment. , , The Supreme Court granted decrees nisi in Rothes McKain Meek Nellie May Meek, and Arthur Roy Newson, co-respondent, EUanor Hannah 0 - Hanlon v. Frederick John O'Hanlon, misconduct: Charles WiHian Griffiths v May Catherine Griffiths, and Willian Darling Danaey. co-resnondent.
