ROTORUA FATALITY.

[Per Press Association.] Rotorua, Sunday. A sad drowning fatality occurred in Lake Rotokakahi this morning at 11 o'clock. Wm. Seeley and Alexander Smith went out in a small boat. They discovered that the boat was leaking very much, and it became swamped. Both men clung to it for sometime, and then Seeley left the boat and struck out for the shore. He swam well for about a chain, and then suddenly disappeared. Smith rtuck to the boat and ©vt>ntualljr. the shore greatly exhausted/ Mrs Smith witnessed ths sad occurrence from the shore, and'she was the only person present. The boat was only about 200 yards from the shore when it sunk. Seeley was a highly respected townsman, and took great interest in all sports. He was secretary of the football and bowling clubs. He leaves a widow and a child.
