River Plate sheep and beef unchanged. Wool prices were fully maintained to date. 44,866 bales were catalogued and 43,666 sold. The sales included fleece portions of the following dips:— Mangawhare Hid, -?oreora 13md, Gore lid, Kynuna 23* d. Taffiw.-Stock, 6661 casks; imports. 6609: deliveries, 4377. P s£reß.-Waihi, £8 16s 3d; Grand Junction, 10s. Wellington, December 3. The Department of Industries and Ccmmeroe has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, Ist:— . The mutton market is dull, but htlders are firm, and stocks on hand a»e small. Average price for Canterbury is 4Jd, North Island 4*d, an« Rive* Plate 3}d. Argentine sellers are pushing sales, with the object of lowering prices. Lamb sruiket firmer, supply falling short of demand. The weather continues favourable for the sale* of lamb. Nominal price for Canterbury brands Bid per lb. This season's Australian ia selling at 6fd per lb. Beef market duu. Supplies of River Plate and heavy New Zealand beef are ouoted at 3fd and 3jd per lb, for hind and forequarters respectively. Butter market overstocked and depiessed. Buyers are holding back especting prices to go lower. The weather is very unfavourable for the sale of butter, and heavy arrivals are anticipated. Danish butter is quoted at 116s, choice New Zealand j at 110s, Argentine 108s, Australian i 107s, and Siberian at 98s per cwt. Cheese market steady, but there is only a small demand. Canadian make ia quoted at 62s per cwt. Hemp market firm. The excitement lately prevailing on the market is subsiding. There is a good demand for all descriptions. Good, fair grade, on spot, is quoted at £39, and January-March shipments £3? 10s per ton There is a better demand for cocksfoot seed. Bright, clean, 171 b New Zealand seed is quoted at 46s per cwt.
