RONGOTEA FLOWER SHOW.
CLOSES TO-NIGHT WITH A CONCERT. The above was re-opened yesterday, both afternoon tfnd evening, and was. well attended. During the evening several items were competed for, viz. :— Recitation (boys) — Clarence Tobeck secured firet price, a nice silver medal * with R. Mudford second. The gentlemen's hat-trimming caused a lot of fun, and honours were finally divided between Messrs C. Costall and R. Harper, the former showing good decorative taste. Between 30 and 40 gents competed for the nail-driving, which was keenly contested, and snows that Rongotea has a chance of developing some good carpenters in its midst. The first prize was won by Mr Wilson Bourne, Mr James Person 2, and Mr D. Wilson 3. Both the latter tied three times for third place, whe Mr Person won by a point. To-night (Friday) the show^ closes with a grand elocutionary contest, ■and good have been received, and promises to be an event for Rongotea and district.
