Christchurch, Wednesday. At the Addington live stock market to-day there was a moderate entry of stock in tho yards, in cousequeuco of the wet weather, aud a fair attendance. Beef sold well, as did store shcop, while fat hoggets and fat sheep were easier. The fat sheep sale opened at rather easier rates. Pigs of all classes met with au improved demand, especially for stores, There was a moderate demand for store and dairy cattle. Store sheep.— There were between 3000 and 4000 store sheep offered, and a keen demand was shown for all classes, hoggets selling better than unfinished lots in the fat pens. The principal sales were — Ewes in lanib 28s 3d, two-tooths 22s 9d, 419 four and six-tooth 27s 4d, 457 sound-mouth 19s lOd, 184 at 14s 9d ; wethers— 323 at 21s 3d, 198 at 20s, 316 at 20s Id, 219 at 19s 8d ; hoggets— 7o at 16s lOd, 125 at 16s Bd, 93 at 16s 6d, 105 at 15s 3d to 16s 2d, and 84 at 16s ld. Fat Hoggets — An entry of 1614 fat hoggets were mostly light weights and unfinished sorts, and in the absence of | composition of several export buyers, the prices for the best lots were easier, while the operations of graziers improved tho prices of those requiring more finishing off. Best lots made 17s 6d to 19s, a few extra to 23s Ocl, and other 16s to 17s. Fat Sheep — There was a moderate yarding of fat sheep, including some prime lines of wethers. At the opening of the sale values were rather below those of the previous week, and they did not improve. There was Uttie business done in wethers for export, and these, as well as ewes, showed a decline. The range of prices was— Prime wethers 23s to 255, extra 28s, light 21s to 22s 6d, prime heavy ewes 20s to 22s 6£d, extra to 25s 6d, medium to good 17s to 19s 6d, aged 14s 3d to 16s Cd, prime merino wethers 18s to 21s 9d, medium 12s i2cl to 15s 6d, merino ewes lOs 9d to 13s. Fat Cattle.— The fat cattle pens contained an entry of 199, the bulk being light weights. There was a good sale and prices were rather firmer. Steers brought £7 7s 6d to £10 12s 6d, heifers £4 13s 6d to £8 2s Cd, and cows £4 12s Cd to £8 10s, equal to 22s to 24s for prime and 17s to 21s for inferior to medium per 1001 b. Veal calves sold at 7s Gd to £2 10s, and extra to £3 155. Store .md Dairy Cattle.— There were only a few store cattle offered, and little business was done at the auction, but some sales were done privately. 15 to 18-months sold at 355, 2-yr heifers £2* Ita, 3-yr steers £4 2s 6d, 3-yr heifers £8 lbs, dry cows 37s 6d to £3 10s. The dairy cows were a moderate lot, and sales were made up to £7 15s. Pigs.— There was a fair yarding of pigs, and baconers and porkers were firmer, while there was a keener demand for stores. Baconers made 37s to 60s, and heavies to 555, equal to 3fd to 4d per lb ; porkers 23s to 255, equal to 4±d to 4£d per lb; large stores, 18s to 26s ; medium 10s to 15s ; weaners 6s 6d to 9s.
