— — — ■ ♦ The annual meeting of members fl of the New Zealand Romney Marsh H Sheep breeders' Association was held i. in the Masterton A. and P. Associa- ? tion's rooms on Wednesday. Mr G. I- Wheeler, of Haleombe, occupied the 1 chair, and there was a large attendt ance of members. * The annual balance sheet, which was adopted, stated, inter alia, that although it was only ft little over a - year since the initial step was taken - to form the Association under its 1 present constitution already the » success of the undertaking had war- » ranted the action of the promoters of - the scheme. There were now 74 3 flocks registered by the Association, t two applications were before the • Council, and nine fresh ones had , applied for membership. i The annual balance sheet showed ' the receipts to have been £851 23 9d ; : and the expenditure £164 18s 7d, i leaving credit balance in the bank of i £186 9s 2d. The assets were in I excess of liabilities by £192 6a 2d. i Officers for the ensuing year were . elected as follows : President, Mr G. Wheeler, Haleombe ; Vice-President, - MrJ. Holms, Waimahaka, South- ; land; Treasurer, Mr W. F.Jacob, Feilding; Secretary, Mr £. J. Wacki rill, Feilding. > The following motion, of which i Mr D. P. Buchanan had given notice i was carried :— " In order to prevent duplication of names in the Flock i Book, all flock owners to submit a , word (for preference the name of i their estate) that may be used as a : prefix or affix to the names or numbers of animals they may wish i to enter in the Flock Book. Such i word, on approval of the Council, to i be registered in the books of the Association, and no other flock owner allowed to use it." These names will read, either "May field Nugget 9th," or "Nugget 9th of Mayfield," and numbers either " Mayfield 44th " or " No. 44 of Mayfield," j The question of judges of fiomney Marsh sheep at the various' A. and P. shows in the colony was fully discussed, and a list was drawn up to be submitted to the principle A. and P. Societies in the colony for their approval. When approved of, judges for Bomney Marsh sheep at the shows can only be drawn from such list. There was a general discussion regarding the exhibiting of fleeces at the forthcoming International Exhibition in Christohurcb, and finally the Secretary was instructed to ascertain full particulars from the Executive Commissioners of the Exhibition, and then circularise the members of the Aesooiaton, asking them to endeavour to forward an exhibit. Eleven new membere were elected, bringing the present membership up to dose on 100.— Age.
