Telegraph. Press Association. Copyright Sydney, Dec. 14. The wool sales closed firm without appreciable change. Greasy touched 13fd, and scoured 24d. Christchurch, Dec. 14. The second series of wool sales started to day. Two records were established— the quality oflered (28, 000 bales) and the attendance of buyers, which included a large contingent of foreign firms. Nevertheless, prices showed an easier tendency. Fine half-bred and good threequarter-bred maintained last sales' rates. Merinoes and crossbreds, in sympathy with the London market were |d weaker. There were heavy withdrawals owing to reserves not being reached. Prices ranged as follows :— Merino B£d to lid, halfbred 9d to 18£ d, threequarter-bred Bid to Is, crossbred B£d to llfd, long wool BJd to 9|d, Down lOd to ll§d, merino pieces 9£d, half bred 9£d to lid, crossbred 7^d to 9£d, locks 4d to 6sd. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dafcsd London lltb inst. — The wool sales have concluded, and the market closed very strong. Supplies do not meet requirements, but the market prospects are favourable. The estimated value of fine crossbreds, all grades, is Is Id to Is Bd, medium crossbreds, all grades lid to Is Id, coarse erosebreds, all grades 9|d to Is O£d, superior merino Is Id to Is 3£d, medium lid to Is Id. in» ferior 8d to 10£ d.
