RECONSTRUCTION.
The necessity for the reconstruction of the Cabinet continues to be urged by some of our contemporaries. The Auckland Star says it would be an insult to the intelligence of the Liberal Party to assert that it cannot supply half a dozen men able to discharge Ministerial duties far more capably than two or three minor members of the present Cabinet. The responsibility of unseating his w oaker colleagues and replacing them by competent successors would naturally rest with Mr Seddon. If he dods not care to accept it, some such scheme of party election as that suggested by the New Zealand Timrs might be carried into effect. Eut whatever the process is to be, the Premier cannot afford to hesitate long. It is imperatively necessary that the Cabinet should be reconstructed, and that in the new Ministry more adequate and effeotive representation should be given to tbe claims of the North Island, and more especially of Auckland.
