Count Witte On The Situation
Telegraph Press Association Copyright St. Petersburg, Deo. 12. Many Russian telegraphists have resumed work. The peasant raids are increasing in audacity. The churches in the 3altic provinces are being desecrated and many landowners have been murdered. London, Dec 12. Count Witte informed the Daily Telegraph's St Petersburg correspondent that unless the elements of society offered a moral resistance to the advance of anarchy, and cooperation with the Government in executing the Czar's manifesto, the situation would become truly disquietening and serious. Personally be still entertained some hope, but the community was liable to be hypnotised by the revolutionists, who were resolute, united and persevering. If the anarchy continued, the nation might demand the forcible suppression of the revolution. Then the Manifesto might be repealed or suspended, and in that event he would retire. The Czar consults Pobiendenostzefif in all questions of importance.
