WANGANUI PRESBYTERY

The above Presbytery met on Tuesday at Marton Present— Revs Jolly, Reyburn, Hall, Budd, Gordon, and McCully, and Messrs Mcßetb, Murray, McGregor, Thomson, and Brechin. Rev J. Jolly, M.A., was elected Moderator for the ensuing six months. Rev W. Malcolm, missionary from China, being present, was cordially welcomed. Plans for alterations and additions to the Hunterville ohurch were submitted and approved. Rev Mr Doull wrote re some sections at Rongotea, and the Presbytery entrusted to Mr Doull the task of obtaining further information regarding them. The thanks of the Presbytery were recorded to Messrs Galpin Bros for the gift of a valuable site in the neighbourhood of Marton. It was reported that the school had been examined by the Inspector of Native Schools, and that his report was highly satisfactory. A hearty vote of thanks to the teaching staff was passed,, The school was then closed until February 7th.
