The following seven candidates hava been nominated for the Western Maori Electorate :— Henare Kaihau, Eruera Te Kahu, Hamiora, Tukino, Mangakahia, Te Heuheu, Pitiera Taipua, Hare Teimana, Te Weraroa Emgi. Masierton, This Day. Mr Vile, Opposition candidate for Manawatu, has demanded an apology from the Premier for an alleged defamatory statement made by the latter at Shannon. . Ashhurst, This Day. Mr Hornblow had a large audience to hear his address at Ashhurst last night. He made a vigorous speeoh in support of his candidature. The meeting accorded him a good hearing. New Plymouth, This Day Mr Maaeey, leader of the Opposition, delivered a political address at the Theatre Royal to-night. The building was packed. The speaker was accorded hearty cheers, and his address was frequently applauded, DANNEViRKE^Tbis Day. Mr Hall. Libecal candidate, ad- ! dressed a, meeting last night. The candidate spoke in support of the Government. He strongly defended the Lands for Settlement Act, and condemned the Harvester trust. At the conclusion a voto of thanks and confidence in the Government was passed.
