LAND SETTLEMENT.

Telegraph Press Association, copyright Hastings, This Day. At auction yesterday 1285 acres in the Maraekakaho Estate were disposed of at the average price of £9 5s per acre. The whole of Mr G. P. Donnelly's Ngatawa Estate was offered, but only 721 acres were sold at an average of £12 15s per acre. The Government has decided to acquire compulsorily Mr T. H. Lowry's Okawa property, near Hastings, containing 14,700 acres, for closer settlement.
