BAND CONTEST.

A general committee meeting was held m the Drill Hall last evening, Mr Carty occupying the chair. Several apologies for absence were received. The following officers were elected : Patron, Mr F. Y. Lethbridge, M.H.R ; President, Mr F. F. Haggitc ; Chairman of Committee, Mr A. G. Oarty ; Executive Committee, Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and Messrs F. C. Smith and Haybittle. Mr W. S. King, of Christchurch, was appointed Judge ; Military Judges, Lieut. -Colonel Watt, V.D., Staff Sergeant Peacock and Captain J. Batten. Messrs Lawrence and Holben wrote accepting position of instrumental inspectors. The entries are as follows : Bands 5, Test 5, March 5, Waltz 5, Quar tefctea 8, Trios 4, Solos 46 ; entries for the latter are not yet closed. The various sub-committees reported satisfactory progress with arrangements. The guarantee list shows a total of £238, and the Secretary was instructed to try and get the amount increased. Resolved, that Mrs Lethbridge and Mrs J. Prior be askod to convene a a meeting of ladies to arrange the garden party ; also, that Mrs Lethbridge be asked to preside at the presentation of prizes. Resolved, that the question raised by the Wanganui Band, of playing with an extra man in the quartettes, cannot ba acceded to, unless it is to be provided for in the North Island Brass Band Association rules.
