CYCLE ROAD RACE.

m The first Favorite Road Race is now a thing of the past, and judging by the great crowd of people who turned out to witness the start and finish, and the record number of entries which Mr George Fowler received, the affair was ajgreat success. At exactly four minutes past three the limit m«n left their marks, the scratch men leaving 9min lOsec afterwards. The crowd then waited patiently for the ran home. After about 48 minutes the first men , appeared in sight, and amidst eon- ; siderable excitement, H. Morrell finished first, with H. Woodman , a close second, W. Garvey a close third. W. Lankshear at the commencement of the race collided with a dog and received a nasty bruise, 1 but ran fourth. Great praise is due 1 to Mr Colling wood who handicapped 1 the race as only an expert can. | Messrs Sutton, McGorkindale and Rus9el capably acted as judges, everything going off without a hitch. At the beginning of their second season in Feilding Mr George Fowler took a ■ run of 84 Red Birds to Bulls, and now as the beginning of their third season he has promoted and carried out the largest and most successful road raoe yet held in Feilding. The ' course was from Feilding to Chelten* ' ham and back.
