Telegraph Press Aesociation t. oi.-.riel. Christchurch, August 26. The match between Canterbur; and Australia was played at Lan caster Park in fine weather, before i crowd of about 8000 people. The game was well contested Canterbury winning by 8 points t< 3. The home team deserved theii win, as they had the better of th( play, and but for faulty passing should have increased their score The visitors at times showed dash but lost some good chances by mistakes at critical times. For Canterbury Gray scored twc tries, one of which Fraser converted; and for Australia M. Smith scored.
