Shocking Outrages by Peasants. Received August 26, 8.86 a.m. Bt. Petersburg, August 25. Cossacks surrounded a Socialist meeting in a village, near Lodz, and arrested 380. A further 450 were arrested at Lodz. During a fair in the village of Lihovka in the province of Verkhnednepreffk an immense crowd of peasants attacked the merchants, pillaged their goods, massacred some and mutilated others by gouging out their eyes, and cutting off their ears.
