CHESS TOURNEY.

The following are so far the results of the chess tournament, which began ;on Monday : - First round : Barnes beat Eelling, Cleland beat Edwards, Davis drew with W. E. Mason, Forsyth beat Flamel, Gifford beat Pleasants, B. Mason beat J. Mason. Second Hound : Davis beat B: Mason, Cleland beat Flamel, Gifford beat Miles, W. E. Miles beat Selling, Forsyth beat Edwards, Pleasants beat Adair. This Day. ~ The third round of the chess championship tourney commenced this morning. Tha following is the drawing, the first-named having the move : flanmel v. Edwards, Cleland v. Forsyth, J. .Mason v. W. E. Mason, Barnes v. Pleasants, Adair v. Gifford, Davis y. Kelhng. Mills played the favorite Guy Lopez. Pleasants made a fatal bluuder, and resigned on the tenth move with the loss of a piece and .a hopeless position. The players appreciate the effects of the cool rain now falling.
