TELEGRAPHIC NEWS.

c- . . TeJegraph.Presß Association, Gopyrig'-t Chbistchuroh, October 19. The Acclimatisation Society resolved this evening to inquire regarding the possibility of importing the Australian jackass to Canterbury. The North Canterbury Executive of the Farmers' Union was addressed to-day by Mr W. G. Devereux, a local auctioneer, who urged the formation of a combine by all the farmers to deal with the colony's wheat supply and secure the fixity of a reasonable price to producers. In discussing the scheme members generally expressed the opinion that the formation of a combine would be impracticable and altogether undesirable, as likely to bring farmers into bad odour.
