FEDERAL POLITICS.

Telegraph Press Association Copyright Melbourne, July 25. Replying to Mr Reid's remarks to the effect that the Government had shown a compaoity for surrender in accepting defeat and criticising the manner in which the Goyernment had accepted alterations in a Bill without making them vital, Premier Watson expressed himself amused to find Mr Reid emphasising the necessity of a Labor Ministry resigning immediately upon defeat in face of Mr Reid's own record for holding office in New South Wales when several times defeated. The Federal Government, far from being anxious to follow Mr Reid's example, had already staked its existance on securing a reversal of the decision on Mr McCoy's amendment.
